The Adventures Continue

Hello, Creatives and Journalists! Last week we focused on an introduction to who I am as a student and a photographer. This week I want to share more photos in hopes that you will be inspired to photograph the world as you see it. I also want to talk about some of the things that have been happening around campus.

Opening of the new lactation center

I don’t wish to copy and paste my entire article here, but in the October issue of the Commuter, you will be able to read about the grand reopening of the Lactation spaces on campus with photos and written words by yours truly.

This week I was surprised to find once again, that we’re all connected in some way. Okay so story time and hopefully when I’m done everything will make sense.

I was sitting in the student union working on class work and vibing on the energy from lunch when it caught my eye the intense game of pingpong this older couple was playing outside the student union. It should be noted when I say couple I mean two people not that they have a bond more than kinship. As I was sitting there I decided that I should go introduce myself and ask for permision to photograpgh their game. Long story short they agreed to being photographed and we got to chatting. During this converstation of newly met strangers, it was made known that Becky (first name given only) use to live and work in the same area where my mother’s family is from. To make things even weirder when I mentioned that my grandmother and grandfather used to work at the university there, Becky said she worked there as well. Yes I met someone two thousand plus miles away from where my grandmother use to live, and they use to work together and are still in contact. It is no joke that Becky sent my grandmother an email that she’d met me before I could even have a conversation about it myself. Moments like this make you think of the concept of “six degrees of separation” the idea that all people are six or fewer social connections away from each other, the concept first appeared in a short story in 1929 by Frigyes Karinthy.
