 Samantha Hines is the director of LBCC’s Library and Learning Center. Director Hines has been working in library services since 1993. Her original degree path was in Political Science. She received her master's degree in 2003 and was a librarian for 15 years before venturing into the administrative side of library staff. She was working as a librarian for the  University of Montana College of Technology in Missoula in 2011 when the director of an affiliate community college library decided to retire. This opened up the opportunity for Hines’ first experience in a director's position.  What does a director do though? Here at LBCC Samantha Hines is the heart of the library and our librarians are the face. Director Hines is responsible for budgets, spreadsheets, interviews and being a voice on many of the committees that make important decisions to college policies and procedure and affordibility of educational resources to students.   Chef Josh Green department chair and faculty for LBCC Culinary, featured for environmental week. Chef Green has been working professionally in kitchens for over twenty two years. The summer after highschool he worked as a dishwasher and the fast paced ever changing environment sparked his intreuge. Working his way up from dishwasher to ingredient prep, and eventually lead cook. Josh never considered culinary before his summer dishwashing job but influenced by another coworker he discovered culinary school was an option and pursued it full steam ahead.   Chef Josh took up teaching after the birth of his daughter, working sixty to eighty hours a week and being on call twenty-four/ seven was not conducive for starting a family. As an educator Josh is inspired to continue learning at all stages in life. He states that he has learned alot from his students amd enjoys the shared experiences.       Chef Josh works directly with second year students. The core of the course Josh has developed

 Photographer of The Week: Mihaela Noroc                 Thirty-nine-year-old Mihaela Noroc of Bucharest, Romania is a portrait photographer who has for the past eleven years been traveling to over one hundred countries to photograph the beauty of women. Mihaela grew up in the 1990’s where unemployment and poverty in eastern europe meant her family moved often for work opportunities. Having to attend a new school almost every year gave Mihaela her ability to adapt to new environments.    At the age of sixteen her father gifted her an old second hand camera. Mihaela first practice taking photos of her sister and mother, her images focused on simplicity and keeping her images feeling natural. At night she would turn the bathroom into a dark room to develop her and print her photos.   During her time at college to study photography, the digital boom for photography began, this caused Miheala to see her self as just an average photographer among millions of others who now had access to dig

On the Job

    Deputy Fire Marshal of Risk reduction and public education Sandy Roberts, age fifty, has worked with the Albany Fire department for nine years. Previously worked in forensics and prevention with local law enforcement for fourteen years. At nineteen she received an internship with Salem Police working in the crime lab. The reasons behind why She loves her job pertain to community outreach she love seeing the impact her career has had on the community wether that’s from the 8th graders being trained in hands on CPR to Career fairs and in home fire alarm installations. Roberts loves that everyday is a little bit different than the day before while on the job. Outside of work Robert loves to go hiking and practice yoga, she will often make time to visit national parks her favorite from this year is Grand Teton national park in Wyoming. Festival at Bose Family Farm

October 19th,2024 If horses are not your thing you can take a ride on a classic hay bale ride pulled by a classic little red tractor. Bose Family farm is hosting a harvest festival from now until November 2nd. Between the hours of noon to six on Thursdays and Fridays and nine to six on Saturday and Sunday. The farm is located between Albany and Lebanon Oregon, Photo was captured on a Saturday October 19th, 2024  Drawn to the small size of the mini pumpkins, the contrasting whites and orange bring out the textures of the pumpkins. I was tempted to take a few away with me , instead  I walked away with a photo that wont rot on my desk. 50 cent pumpkins photographed on October 19th, 2024

    Hello, Creatives and Journalists! Autumn is in full swing, This week I wanted to embrace all the cozy vibes esspecialy embracing the beautiful weather we have been having. If only I could wake up in New England with small town community, fall foliage and apple cider everything.
