Photographer’s Selection : Pregame Practice


Freshman Maya Wilson (age 18) , Jersey number 2,  preps for game four of the season. Her current play time in the first three games is 49 minutes with 2.3 points per game and one rebound on a defensive play. Maya is quick on her feet making up for the height difference between herself and other players. 

 

 Sophomore Avery Spikerman (age 19), Pregame practice running layup drills, working through ball handling at the top of the key. Jersey number 34, no current stats listed under roster, team is currently 2 and 1 this season. Hoping for a win at Friday nights game against Big Bend at 7:00pm. 

Featured on the right: Sophomore Katelynn Weaver (age 19) , Jersey number 3, Has been starting line up for every game this season so far. Her on the court time is currently at 29.3 minutes per game and she has a record of 7.3 rebounds per game. Katelynn has scored 47 points and has had 11 assists so far this year. An MVP in the making if she works on lowering her personal fouls.

The feel of slowly opening the sticky seal on the paper envelope to find the cardstock folder inside holding your photos. As this was pre-2007 my parents still used film cameras as we couldn't afford a digital camera. So opening that envelope was the first time we got to view our photos. When my younger brother was born in 2007 my parents bought their first digital camera and my love for photography blossomed. Eleven-year-old me would sneak my parents' camera and take rubbish photo after photo until I understood the basic functions of the camera....

The Photographers Paradigm

    As students of higher education, we look to the future as motivations for our daily diligence of study. When we decided on our degree paths we had to consider the work available to us after we graduate. The truth of the matter is some careers are vague at best and often time need to be shadowed to fully understand the scope of career potential.    As a student who is passionate about photography and was consistently told that the market was highly saturated, I wanted to follow up with local photographers in the area to get a true behind the scenes of photography in the greater Albany/Corvallis area.  Photo featured top right: Camera and lenses used by photographer Jennifer White during an outdoor photo session at Talking Waters Garden in Albany, Oregon November 15th, 2024. The Adventures Continue

  Hello, Creatives and Journalists! Last week we focused on an introduction to who I am as a student and a photographer. This week I want to share more photos in hopes that you will be inspired to photograph the world as you see it. I also want to talk about some of the things that have been happening around campus.  Opening of the new lactation center  I don’t wish to copy and paste my entire article here, but in the October issue of the Commuter, you will be able to read about the grand reopening of the Lactation spaces on campus with photos and written words by yours truly.    This week I was surprised to find once again, that we’re all connected in some way.
