On the Job

 


  Deputy Fire Marshal of Risk reduction and public education Sandy Roberts, age fifty, has worked with the Albany Fire department for nine years. Previously worked in forensics and prevention with local law enforcement for fourteen years. At nineteen she received an internship with Salem Police working in the crime lab. The reasons behind why She loves her job pertain to community outreach she love seeing the impact her career has had on the community wether that’s from the 8th graders being trained in hands on CPR to Career fairs and in home fire alarm installations. Roberts loves that everyday is a little bit different than the day before while on the job. Outside of work Robert loves to go hiking and practice yoga, she will often make time to visit national parks her favorite from this year is Grand Teton national park in Wyoming. The photo was taken Wednesday October 23rd, 2024 at Station 11, Downtown Albany, Oregon 


Olivia Luxe age twenty-four, works concessions at AMC Classic Corvallis. Olivia enjoys the fast paced and positive work environment at the theater, though, if she could work her dream job it would be working with animals at a rehabilitation center. In her free time she enjoys baking and putting together jigsaw puzzles. October 27th, 2024 Corvallis, Oregon

I wanted to share with you today some relative information about myself and the reason why I’ve enrolled in LBCC’s photojournalism course. From a young age I've always admired photography, It used to bring me so much joy to help my mother find our photos in the rows of prints ordered through Costco. The feel of slowly opening the sticky seal on the paper envelope to find the cardstock folder inside holding your photos. As this was pre-2007 my parents still used film cameras as we couldn't afford a digital camera. So opening that envelope was the first time we got to view our photos. When my younger brother was born in 2007 my parents bought their first digital camera and my love for photography blossomed. Eleven-year-old me would sneak my parents' camera and take rubbish photo after photo until I understood the basic functions of the camera.  Early Portra

The Adventures Continue

  Hello, Creatives and Journalists! Last week we focused on an introduction to who I am as a student and a photographer. This week I want to share more photos in hopes that you will be inspired to photograph the world as you see it. I also want to talk about some of the things that have been happening around campus.  Opening of the new lactation center  I don’t wish to copy and paste my entire article here, but in the October issue of the Commuter, you will be able to read about the grand reopening of the Lactation spaces on campus with photos and written words by yours truly.    This week I was surprised to find once again, that we’re all connected in some way.
