Image
Photographer of The Week: Mihaela Noroc                 Thirty-nine-year-old Mihaela Noroc of Bucharest, Romania is a portrait photographer who has for the past eleven years been traveling to over one hundred countries to photograph the beauty of women. Mihaela grew up in the 1990’s where unemployment and poverty in eastern europe meant her family moved often for work opportunities. Having to attend a new school almost every year gave Mihaela her ability to adapt to new environments.    At the age of sixteen her father gifted her an old second hand camera. Mihaela first practice taking photos of her sister and mother, her images focused on simplicity and keeping her images feeling natural. At night she would turn the bathroom into a dark room to develop her and print her photos.   During her time at college to study photography, the digital boom for photography began, this caused Miheala to see her self as just an average photographer among millions of others who now had access to dig

Previously worked in forensics and prevention with local law enforcement for fourteen years. At nineteen she received an internship with Salem Police working in the crime lab. The reasons behind why She loves her job pertain to community outreach she love seeing the impact her career has had on the community wether that’s from the 8th graders being trained in hands on CPR to Career fairs and in home fire alarm installations.     Hello, Creatives and Journalists! Autumn is in full swing, This week I wanted to embrace all the cozy vibes esspecialy embracing the beautiful weather we have been having. If only I could wake up in New England with small town community, fall foliage and apple cider everything. Sorry to all pumpkin spice addicts, I’m just about worn out on the taste.    Here are the highlights from romanticizing Autumn in Albany, Oregon:    Duke and Dan at Bose family Farm Albany, Oregon October 19th, 2024 Duke, Dan and handler Awbrey Cyrus, Bose Family Farm Albany, Oregon October 19th, 2024 On a more serious note as we talk about spooky season I wanted to take a moment to address how terrifying it can be to feel alone in your mental health struggles. Everyone goes through this life on a different journey and there should be no stigma in prioritizing your peace and mental well being. Below I’ve added some local resources for Oregonians who may need a little extra help as we go into the holiday seas

Hello, Creatives and Journalists! Last week we focused on an introduction to who I am as a student and a photographer. This week I want to share more photos in hopes that you will be inspired to photograph the world as you see it. I also want to talk about some of the things that have been happening around campus.  Opening of the new lactation center  I don’t wish to copy and paste my entire article here, but in the October issue of the Commuter, you will be able to read about the grand reopening of the Lactation spaces on campus with photos and written words by yours truly.    This week I was surprised to find once again, that we’re all connected in some way. Okay so story time and hopefully when I’m done everything will make sense.     I was sitting in the student union working on class work and vibing on the energy from lunch when it caught my eye the intense game of pingpong this older couple was playing outside the student union. It should be noted when I say couple I mean two

Summer Blooms - Brittany King (Photo by Kendra M. Grant) About The Photographer:     Hello, Creatives and Journalists! I wanted to share with you today some relative information about myself and the reason why I’ve enrolled in LBCC’s photojournalism course. From a young age I've always admired photography, It used to bring me so much joy to help my mother find our photos in the rows of prints ordered through Costco. The feel of slowly opening the sticky seal on the paper envelope to find the cardstock folder inside holding your photos. As this was pre-2007 my parents still used film cameras as we couldn't afford a digital camera. So opening that envelope was the first time we got to view our photos. When my younger brother was born in 2007 my parents bought their first digital camera and my love for photography blossomed. Eleven-year-old me would sneak my parents' camera and take rubbish photo after photo until I understood the basic functions of the camera.  Early Portra
